Banned Books - Animal Farm

Animal Farm - George Orwell (1945 but written 1943)

A practice run for Nineteen Eighty-Four, this political satire is clearly mapped onto the Soviet Union. Banned there, of course, but also in Islamic and far eastern countries that object to talking animals. Attacking a war-time ally was problematic, so Orwell was two years finding a publisher anywhere.

Banned Books - Alice in Wonderland

Alice in Wonderland Lewis Carroll   (1865)
Banned in parts of China for lengthy periods. It’s those talking animals again. The spitefulness and the downright nastiness don’t seem to have bothered anyone.
